EXAMPLE SYLLABUS (UNDERGRADUATE)
This is the syllabus used in the Arizona State University course FIS 338: The Moviegoer’s Guide to the Future that is based on the book Films from the Future. The course is offered as both a 15 week in-person course and a seven week online course. Each are three credit course that uses a combination of readings from the book, movie watching (in class in the case of the in-person course) and discussion to explore emerging trends in science and technology, their potential societal impacts, and factors affecting ethical and responsible innovation. The in-person class draws on all twelve movies, while the online course uses ten of them.
